That said 2 levels of Fighter gets Action Surge, which could be double Fireball, but you've also lost 2 spell levels. If you don't want to go Bladesinger, then Fighter offers a lot more but if you have the WIS points to spare I think Cleric offers much more (healing magic as well as other utility magic like Purify Food and Drink or Create Water). That said it does net Second Wind and Fighting Style (either Dueling or Defense, the others preclude Bladesinger) In addition Bladesingers can't wear anything heavier then light or their features don't work, so the added proficiency from Fighter aren't productive in addition to losing a spell level. If you want the Extra Attack feature then you *have* to go Bladesinger, which already nets you light armor and a single melee proficiency. If you want to go melee you either want a single melee spell attack like Booming Blade or Green Flame Blade to make up for the lack of the Extra Attack feature, or you want the Extra Attack Feature. Personally I'm not sure I think Fighter nets much of a gain for a Wizard. No reason to skimp on int.Monstrous Compendium Vol 3: Minecraft Creatures every spell hangs on it.ĭAOM, merciless gaze, weapon summons etc. Originally posted by Wasted_46:high int is definitely the way to go. I was running one on PotD got upto level 11 before i got bored with all the extra resting you do, was the biggest damage dealer in the party and never got knocked out in that time, stats i used was 16,10,16,16,10,10, i used a Cipher for the CC, i just find them to be the better CC casters, fighter, paladin tanks, priest and chanter was the party i used Only boosting Deflection or other defenses doesn't make you unhittable. Playing at Normal or Easy makes a lot of crazy builds possible, but if you want to survive an onslaught at PotD mode, much more is required.Ĭalling spells "fantastic self-buffs" is not very convincing, if the wizard depends on capable warriors in the party, because casting a series of spells takes time, and that time is better spent on targeting the enemies with spells. Another one has done something to get only 1 achievement in over a 100 hours of playtime. For one there's only a bit of activity shown for April 2015, which is even before all the game-changing patches. I've also found another topic called "Melee Wizard" - but the Steam profiles of the people in that topic don't tell much. I made a point for my melee wizard to avoid any spell that is not related to being a battlemage, but you could still go for it. Lastly, keep in mind that you can still cast cool openers like Call to Slumber to buy you time to buff up. More than that and you spend too much time doing nothing. You typically only want to cast DAOM and one, maybe two additional spells (accuracy/defenses) based on the type of fight. The biggest problem is, as you said, the time it takes to cast every spell. He mostly only needs a short time of no attention to buff up (you need DAOM and maybe a couple of eldritch aim/merciless gaze/concelhaut's parasitic staff). Still, I think it could be pretty good on potd as well. And even then, if the defenses run out he is toast. If engaged, you will have to spend a considerable time/spells to buff the deflection. He hits pretty hard and fast with DAOM and Merciless Graze.įor toughest fights you have to buff up which takes a couple seconds (less if you start with DAOM) but for filler fights you can just be in the second row and still hit decently. Durance's Staff is pretty good, then there's the Greenstone Staff, and Concelhaut's parasitic staff which is just brilliant.
